An pictorial review of our Savannah trip, part one

 
oh why do i have such trouble uploading photographs to blog posts?  anyway, although i can't place this image where i want it to be on the page, here is the dome of City Hall, in Savannah.

Russ and Cindy took us on a Trolley Tour of Savannah.  The trolley was informative and interesting, and we covered a lot of ground and history during the tour, but a moving trolley isn't conducive too good photographs, so most of my shots ended up looking like snapshots i could have taken with taken with a disposable camera.  that was a disappointment when i started reviewing them, but i did manage to get a few (very few) acceptable shots.  They'll just be there for history for me, not art so much.

This is the old pink house, which attracted my attention, because it is pink, and because it is October which is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and mainly because I Am A Survivor!

 
Paula Deen's restaurant was high on my priority list of places to go to.  All week, my brother and sister in law told me, "the food isn't great", "there are much better places to eat in Savannah".  I accepted this the first part of the week we spent in Savannah, but while we were in Greenville visiting our nephew and wife, I insisted that we go to have dinner at Paula Deens when we get back.  I told hubby that I would always kick myself in the proverbial ass if we didn't go, so finally, they agreed, and our last night in Savannah, we ate there. 

I should have listened to them.  Cindy and I both felt the churn of the grease trying to make its escape on the way home from the lady and sons, and I apologized for making them go.  But, it is under my travelling belt, and I won't be back here in Wisconsin wishing we had gone there for dinner.  Paula's recipes are good, but her buffet was awful.  The fried chicken was bland, all the greens and the veggies were far to salty.  Live and learn.

Back to the tour...There is a lot of wrought iron and cast iron in Savannah.  This pineapple caught my eye.

I loved this balcony.  

My promise to myself:  to blog more often.  Vox is no more.  I have to get over it and just get used to blogging somewhere else.  

the day after

last night was our annual halloween party, and i had baby duty.  i did not mind that at all, the night was perfect for me.   I spent the hours from 7 till midnight, rocking and singing to my sweet grandson.  i must admit i am not a party girl, i haven't had a drink in years, not that i am against drinking, it just isn't for me.  

so while everyone was having a beer induced blast, quinny and i spend the hours just hanging out in his room for the most part.  the party noise wasn't bad in his room, but there were a few bumps and thuds, and enough noise for him to not be able to drift off and stay asleep.  

i love that little boy so much.  you know when i was a young mom, i never thought i could love as deeply as i did my babies, but as time has gone by, my love for them has grown exponentially.  now i have the most precious gift, my baby girl gave me a grandson.  

being a grandma means i don't have to worry about the day/night responsibility of being the mom, i can just love him.

we recently took a trip to Savannah, GA. one of the stops on the trolley tour was St. John the Baptist Cathedral. i was smitten with the baptismal font. as you will see in my next post

this time, to georgia. hubby's sister lives in savannah, and we've not visited in the 8 years they've been there. the weather is supposed to be beautiful! we're going to spend 3 days in savannah, doing photo walk tours and a few ghost walks. on monday we are headed to greenville SC to see hubby's nephew and niece and our sweet little grand niece Lennon
